"I am a storyteller, keeper of the words that bind together, tides and generations of time. " -- Internal WonderWith clear-eyed optimism, compassionate clairvoyance, and a crystalline voice, singer/songwriter Annie Dingwall creates lyrics, melodies and performances that far surpass her chronological age. Her ever-expanding catalog of over 80 songs is both a product of fearless adventurousness and an intuitive understanding of her craft. "When I write a song I want it to have a surface layer, and the more you hear it you draw deeper meanings," she avows. "I want listeners to be able to apply the songs to their lives and figure out what it means for them. Thats my goal to touch people, but not tell them what they're supposed to feel."A series of independent EPs document Annie's development as an artist and a songwriter. Her gift is in divining the drama from what she observes, and distilling these impressions into narrative song scenarios. "I've always been a people watcher; someone who observes their surroundings. I like watching people interact I wonder what they feel, and through my wondering, I come up with stories."Annies musical journey started at age 13. "Other people's songs never said what I wanted to say so I started writing songs and it evolved from there." From the onset it was clear she had an innate talent. But it is the delivery of her music in her 4-octave vocal range that captivates and mesmerizes audiences everywhere: from the power ballads, to the haunting melodies that give you goose bumps, to the quirky and catchy pop tunes that get stuck in you head for days. Annie is not easily forgotten. Performance is a huge part of the equation. "I love being onstage- it's so much fun, you get to be who ever you want to be, and people can watch you unfold. I feed off of the audience and they feed off me as I share my music and try things. No audience is the same, so each show is different. Whether appearing with my band or solo, it's the spontaneity of the moment that makes it all work."Her accolades include 5 Downbeat Awards, BMI Festival honors, a finalist designation in the International Song Competition and scholarships from programs established by George Michael and Willie Hutch. She counts among her co-writers such luminaries as Jeffrey Steele (Rascal Flatts, Faith Hill); Angela Kaset (Wynonna Judd, Lorrie Morgan); Chas Sandford (Tina Turner, Rod Stewart, Chicago) and Don Henry (Kathy Mattea, Blake Shelton, Lonestar).Annie's songwriting and performing have taken her from her hometown in Texas to festivals, conferences and professional opportunities in Dallas, Nashville, New York, London, and Los Angeles. She is now enrolled in the Thornton School of Music at the University of Southern California (USC) as a Popular Music Performance major with Academy Award-winning and GRAMMY-winning composer/singer-songwriter Randy Newman as her mentor. Annie is very direct in her professional ambitions. "I'm a big believer in this philosophy: Never have a Plan B! If you do, you're planning for Plan A to fail. So, I put all of my proverbial eggs in one basket," she says. "Not that there aren't bumps in the road," she confirms, "but when I do find one, I jump over it and keep going." With her winning buoyancy, an accomplished cast of encouraging professional guides, and an unshakeable devotion to her craft, Annie Dingwall continues to enthrall new audiences with her the compelling authenticity of her songs and voice. A big proponent of giving back, Annie continues to work with foundations, hospitals, schools, and charitable organizations in her communities, helping to raise awareness and funds by utilizing her music; be it performing, writing theme songs, or sharing of her time.
